Repainting of Polynesian Village Resort Longhouses Matches New DVC Tower

    Published:

Earlier this year, we brought you the news that the Polynesian Village Resort longhouses were receiving an exterior refresh. During a recent visit to the resort, we stopped in to check on the progress and found that many of the buildings had received a new coat of paint that more closely resembles the color scheme found on the new Disney Vacation Club tower being built on the north end of the campus-style resort.

As we walk around the grounds of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, note that the more vibrant paint scheme is new. It’s possible that the old color on the longhouses simply faded after years of Florida sun and that the updated look is not necessarily a new hue or color. What’s more likely, I’d wager, is that Disney is using the same color scheme from the longhouses on the new DVC building and that a refresh of faded paint on the longhouses will bring them up to speed with the new paint on the tower so they can all fade in sync over the next few years.

Here’s what Disney has officially said about the repainting project, which is expected to last through the Fall:

Now through Fall 2024, work will take place to paint the exterior of buildings throughout Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort & Bungalows, with Guest room balconies also being affected. Guests may see and hear painting work during daytime hours, typically from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

We’ll start with a few comparison photos to show the before/after of the repainting efforts. It’s a little bit tough to see, but through the foliage, we can see a more vibrant color scheme on the Niue building to the right when compared to the Samoa building to the left.

    Here’s another comparison photo.

We’ll continue our walk around the resort, with work taking place on the Rarotonga building when we visited.

Finally, here’s a look at the construction and painting taking place for the Disney Vacation Club tower on the northwest side of the resort footprint. We’ll have a more detailed look at current construction and a new milestone later today.
